Sauna therapy is more than a moment of relaxation—it’s a scientifically supported practice that enhances overall wellness. From boosting circulation to promoting deep detoxification, this time-tested therapy caters to a variety of health and lifestyle needs.
Sauna therapy involves sitting in a heated environment that promotes perspiration and promotes health benefits. While traditional saunas use heat to warm the air, the barrel sauna’s design maximizes efficiency, creating an even and comforting heat distribution. The combination of warmth and aromatic cedar wood offers an unparalleled sensory and therapeutic experience.
Key benefits of sauna therapy include:
At Heim Regenerative Medicine Center, our state-of-the-art saunas take these benefits to new heights. Built from Western Red Cedar, our barrel saunas are visually stunning and provide a naturally calming environment.
Features of Our Cedar Barrel Saunas:
Sauna therapy is supported by decades of research highlighting its profound effects on physical and mental health. Long term studies show a drastic reduction in heart disease and dementia. Results are dose dependent, meaning the more days per week sauna is used, the better the results! Here are some of the top science-backed benefits:
Studies have shown that regular sauna sessions can lower blood pressure and improve arterial health. The heat increases heart rate, mimicking the effects of moderate exercise, which benefits cardiovascular function over time.
The heat of the sauna relaxes muscles, reduces cortisol levels, and stimulates endorphin release. These combined effects provide a natural way to combat stress and promote mental clarity.
Sweating is one of the body’s natural ways to eliminate toxins. Sauna therapy accelerates this process, helping remove heavy metals, pollutants, and other bodily impurities.
For individuals with chronic pain or post-workout soreness, sauna therapy provides relief by relaxing tense muscles, reducing inflammation, and enhancing blood flow to affected areas.
The increased blood flow from sauna use delivers nutrients to the skin, improving its elasticity and texture. Sweating also helps unclog pores, leaving your skin looking refreshed and rejuvenated.
At Heim Regenerative Medicine Center, your safety is our priority. Our Fresh Start system ensures every session meets the highest standards of hygiene and water quality. Additionally, our team is trained to provide guidance and adjustments to ensure your experience is both safe and enjoyable.

We typically recommend starting with two to three sessions per week, especially if you’re just beginning your sauna journey. Over time, your body adapts to the heat, and that’s when the real magic begins. Many of our clients who come in regularly say they notice improvements in their energy, mood, skin and even sleep quality after just a few consistent weeks. Research shows that the long term benefits, reduction in heart disease and dementia for example is dose dependant, meaning the more days per week you do it the more powerful the benefits will be.
For most healthy adults, sauna therapy is very safe and beneficial. However, if you have underlying medical conditions—especially related to heart health, blood pressure, or pregnancy—we always recommend speaking with your healthcare provider first. Our team is also here to talk through any concerns you may have and help you feel confident and comfortable before you begin.
Whatever helps you feel most comfortable! Most people wear workout clothing or swimwear. Skin exposure is important as the heat receptors in your skin start the cascade of beneficial physiologic reactions that heat exposure causes. Sweating is how your body tries to cool your body off so too much clothing can inhibit this process. The key is choosing breathable, loose-fitting attire that allows your skin to sweat freely. We keep the environment respectful and serene, so no matter what you wear, you’ll feel right at home.
Absolutely, and many of our guests do. Sauna therapy pairs beautifully with practices like massage, cold plunge, or even light physical activity beforehand. It helps your muscles relax, your mind slow down, and your body become more receptive to healing. We’re happy to help you build a wellness routine that works for your lifestyle
Most people stay in the sauna anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes, depending on their comfort level and goals. You don’t need to push it—this is your time to unwind. We’ll guide you through what’s best based on how your body feels and what you’re hoping to achieve with each visit. We are currently offering instructor led classes that include two rounds of 20 minutes in the sauna followed by 3 minutes in the cold plunge.
Hydration is a must. After your session, we suggest resting in our open-air relaxation area and sipping water or an electrolyte drink. Letting your body cool down naturally adds to the benefit of sauna use so we give you a few minutes in between the sauna and cold plunge to let your body adapt naturally. This combo has an energizing effect that many of our guests absolutely love.
Yes—it’s one of the first things people notice. The deep sweating unclogs pores, removes impurities, and promotes circulation, which brings fresh nutrients to the skin. Many of our guests say their skin feels smoother and looks brighter after regular sessions. It’s a great natural glow-up.
Yes, and it’s something we hear often. The warmth, the calming cedar aroma, and the peaceful setting all come together to create a space where your body and mind can truly let go. Sauna therapy promotes endorphin release, lowers cortisol, and helps you reset. For many, it becomes a reliable weekly ritual for stress relief. Challenging yourself to tolerate heat exposure also builds resilience and helps you stay calm in the face of a challenging environment. This can train your body to be more calm in the face of life’s stressors.
We offer this as a guided group experience. Our guests enjoy the social element of sharing the space with a small group. Our 16-person cedar barrel sauna is designed to feel open yet cozy, and we keep the atmosphere relaxed and respectful at all times.
Our sauna environment is carefully designed to create the ideal balance of heat, comfort, and air flow. The consistent heat encourages deep, purifying sweat that helps your body eliminate toxins and improves circulation. The layout allows for even warmth throughout the space, so you’re not shifting around to find a comfortable spot. Our saunas were custom made for us in Canada using carefully selected Canadian cedar that has never been treated with chemicals of any kind. Add in the peaceful, open-air surroundings, and every session becomes a full-body reset—physically and mentally.
