Dr. Michael Heim completed his undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Exercise Science at Florida State University in 1992. Following his undergraduate studies, he became the Director of Health Center America at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Florida. During that time, he was also a faculty member for the American College of Sports Medicine, where he was charged with the organization of health and fitness certification courses, lecturing, and administering certification exams.
In 1998, Dr. Heim attended medical school at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, followed by an internship and residency in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulation at Suncoast Hospital in Largo, Florida. Upon completing his residency in 2005, he obtained board certification in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulation.
Dr. Heim spent his first 3 years of practice at The Harbin Clinic in Rome, Georgia, a 150-physician multi-specialty group where he practiced inpatient and outpatient primary care and urgent care medicine. During his first year of practice, Dr. Heim completed the training requirements to become board-certified in bariatric medicine and founded the Harbin Clinic Medical Weight Loss Center. During that time, he became a Diplomat of The American Board of Bariatric Medicine and has lectured at regional meetings in the area of exercise prescription for weight loss. During his time in Rome, he was also appointed Medical Director of Harbin Clinic’s medical wellness center, The Vitality Center.
Dr. Heim opened The Center for Health and Age Management in September 2009 with the vision of creating an alternative to the typical primary care office found in Western medicine of hour-long waiting times and 10-minute visits. His goal is to provide a comprehensive approach to your medical care.
In the summer of 2010, Dr. Heim entered a fellowship program through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. This cutting-edge training program is changing the way we practice medicine using the best evidence-based treatment programs from around the world.
As a lifelong triathlete, Dr. Heim has completed over 70 triathlons over the course of his career, most recently completing Ironman Florida for the second time in 2021. Over the years of training and racing, he has gained extensive experience in sports nutrition and endurance training as well as knowledge in sports injury care and prevention. He has a special interest and training in regenerative injection techniques such as platelet-rich plasma, stem cells, and prolotherapy treatments. His life-long passion has always been health and wellness and he can put his experience and knowledge to work in order to help you look and feel your best, inside and out.
Dr. Heim does extensive continuing medical education each year in the many areas of medicine that interest him and is always evolving the practice to include new treatment modalities and technology, many of which he is using personally in his never-ending pursuit of health optimization. In 2025, the practice moved into its fourth location in 16 years due to continued expansion and growth and added additional services that he has recommended for years to his patients, including sauna, cold plunge, and cryotherapy.
When Dr. Heim is not working or exercising, he enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family, and friends over a good glass of wine.
